The English Amateur Finals were held at the Whitworth Institute on Sat/Sun 23rd/24th April 2022.
In the first quarter final Goodwill started well with a couple of 50 breaks but at the halfway stage it was all level with John Hughes at 175 each. Martin then made breaks of 127 and 51 to take the match.
John Mullane had breaks of 78,88 against Darren Kell who responded with a 72 but John took the game 521 to 442.
Rob Hall got into immediate form with breaks of 124,114 and 63 against Phil Welham and then continued in the second half with breaks of 165,79,57 to win with a very respectable 745 to 212.
Eddie Duggan was outscored by Mark Hatton in his quarter final with Mark running in breaks of 54 and 56 to win 247-575.
John Mullane made a 95 break lead Martin Goodwill at the half way stage but Martin responded with 112,68 to win by a fairly narrow margin of 408-376.
Rob Hall started with 55,52 and Mark Hatton getting 105, at halfway Rob had a narrow lead of 195 to 181. Mark took the lead with an 83 and Rob made it even with a 69. In the last few minutes leaving Mark to stay at the table winning by 406-378.
In the final Martin started of well with breaks of 78,58 and 106unf. Mark responded with a 51 but Mark always had his back against the wall but in the second half made more breaks of 114,79,61 and was on 175 unfinished at the bel. The final points tally Martin Goodwill 797 to Marks 225.
