2018/19 Four Nations Internationals – Yorkie’s take the Biscuit
Sat/Sun 24th/25th November 2018, CueBall Club, Derby.
Saturday saw England off to an almost perfect start in defence of the four nations trophy, dropping only 3 points and picking up 31. Close behind were Northern Ireland on 25, with the Republic on 12 and Austria on 4. Sunday saw the trophy retained with the overall scores being England 59, NI on 45, ROI on 28 and Austria 12. Unbeaten England captain Rob Hall picked up the trophy and paid tribute to the good conditions (thank you Cueball Club), the standard of refereeing (thank you messrs O’Reilly, Slee, Brookes, Lowe, Ellis, Cooper, Smith, McCrum, McNally, Steiner), the excellent organisation (thanks to TD Clive Scott and assistant, evergreen Mr. Devlin) and the great spirit of competition and love of the game. Yorkshire’s Adam Clarke also went unbeaten, fellow Yorkie’s Darren Kell, Mark Hatton, Mark Graham and Craig Fitzpatrick with debutant Nathan Mann and Chris Achilles picking up a total of 59 out of 72 points available to keep the trophy on home soil. Centuries made were by England’s Hall (226,115,159,123,181,131) Hatton (113, 101, 107), Kell (105,118) and NI’s Kirk (106).
