Sixteen qualifiers contested the 2010 Grand Masters event at the Atack Snooker Centre Nuneaton.

Four groups of four were randomly drawn to play round-robin matches of one hour with the top two from each group going through to the K.O. stage. Richard Lodge from Bradford was a worthy yet unexpected winner of the event. Richard was runner-up in the event in 2003 and is now finding some consistent form after a break from the game. Steve Crosland appeared to be playing well with three centuries in his first two games but he was narrowly defeated by Peter Shelley in the quarter finals. Shelley went on to beat Jim McCann before succumbing to Lodge in the final.

A very enjoyable day’s billiards played in a good spirit. It’s always a pleasure to go to Nuneaton especially to peruse yet again the extensive ‘wall-display tribute’ to the late, great, Norman Dagley.
