After a stunning performance at the semi-final stage Peter Shelley was overwhelmed by Phil Welham in the Final of the championship at Darley Dale. Welham, the scoring machine from Kings Lynn, never looked in danger in a Final which lacked the sparkle of previous rounds.

With a repeat result of the millennium championship final in which Welham took his first title, Peter looked clearly saddened at his fourth failure at the last hurdle.
