This sectional handicap was brought to a most successful conclusion on Friday evening last, crowded companies throughout the week at the third and fourth rounds testifying to both the popularity of the proprietor and the handicap. After the first round, exceedingly close games have resulted, and many well-fancied candidates for the more important event have been bowled overin two cases only one and two points dividing them at the finish. In the semi-final round both Mr. Nipper and Mr. Mark Abrahams showed good form, and made some decent breaks, both, curiously enough, running out winners by the aid of 33 (unfinished).
On their form in this round an exciting final was anticipated, but the company was disappointed, as Mr. Nipper was dead out of luck and never settled down to his proper game. Mr.
Abrahams, without displaying anything like the form in earlier games, played a safe game and ran out a winner by 69 points.
