Hoppe Eclipses Billiard Record

New York, December 7. - Willie Hoppe, the phenomenal billiardist, last night gave an idea-of how much he outclassed his brother Frank in a practice game at 18.2 baulk line, at Hoppe's Academy, Eightieth Street and Broadway. Willie scored 500 points in three innings, his runs being 96, 92, and 312. The last run beats the world's record run of 311 made by Hoppe in Chicago last year. His average for the game was 166 2-3, 66 2-3 higher than the world's record average made by George Sutton in the New York tournament last spring.

Unfortunately, neither of these records will count for Willie, as it was only a practice game. He is now practising for his match game for the world's 18.2 baulk-line championship, and this game was one of the series of practice matches. Frank Hoppe only had two chances to play, and made runs of 46 and 49, giving him a total of 95 and an average of 47 1-2, the highest average he has ever made. - Montreal Star.
