A Billiard Marathon

A remarkable contest between two young amateurs—Messrs. Eric E. F. Pretty (Reading and Oxford), and Mr. Charles Bain (Hampstead), took place on February 12th, 1910, when a game of billiards was played for 25 consecutive hours, which is undoubtedly an amateur record. The scores at the end of the 25th hour were 5,190—4,035 in favour of Mr. Pretty, while a pedometer carried by the winner denoted the interesting fact that he had walked 24 miles in the course of the game. Altogether a wonderful performance in view of the youth of both players, Mr. Pretty being. 18 years and 9 months old, and Mr. Bain 19 years and 6 months.
