The Billiard Times : September, 1911

Our Mistake

In the first number of "The Billiard Times" we managed— in seeking for one or two small paragraphs at the last moment to fill in small spaces—to insert "A medium-sized cue tip is best, something between a threepenny bit and a sixpence is preferable." It is, of course, a mistake, as even a threepenny piece is larger than any English cue tip, and slightly larger than a butt tip. We can only say in extenuation that the same slip has been made more than once in books dealing with billiards. The error was pointed out to us within a few days of the issue of the paper by rsaders in various parts of the United Kingdom, and have since heard of it from South Africa and India. Our one consolation is that the slip has helped to show the great interest with which the paper is read.
