Darren Martin defeated Adrian Hinks by 500 - 194 in the final. Martin made the highest break of the tournament - 109. This was his first century. Darren Martin later won his second tournament in a week -The Illawarra Champion of Champions - defeating Graham Lin in the final by 500 - 379. Martin had a break of 61 and Lin one of 62.
Congratulations to David Meredith who defeated Joe Minici by 776 to 775. With two minutes and twenty-nine seconds remaining for play, Minici, leading by 49, must have felt safe. Meredith commenced a break and reached 47, playing to pot the red just as the bell sounded. The red hesitated on the brink of the pocket before falling to make the break into 50 unfinished, giving Meredith the title by just one point.
Robby Foldvari, better known here for his billiards, won an important snooker tournament held in Melbourne. He defeated 16 yr. old John Younger in the final, clinching the match with a 50 clearance to win the crucial frame by just one point.
