The cup was contested by representative teams from the Eastern Counties League and the Midlands league. The match was very close as the scores show.
Four of the games were played with the new balls - red, white, yellow. These are said to be made of a slightly different material, and are also said to be very slightly larger and heavier (metric). Some of the players were struggling to find the angle with these balls and this may explain the absence of any century breaks. However, a very good day was had by all, and the Midlands took the trophy for the first time. Thanks are due to Mark Wildman for the use of the Raunds Club and for the Buffet.
