Duncan was the Irish Champion. In this match John Roberts made breaks of:-
821(A record at the time), 438, 433, 339, 268, 260, 251, 229, 224, 221, 208, 203, 202 and forty other breaks between 100 and 200.
I should imagine that this match was over a fortnight - it would have been a heck of a lot of breaks for one week's play.
If only our present-day top players could play the occasional long game under championship conditions then some valid comparisons could be made. With appropriate advertising, and in the right venue, it would perhaps prove once-and-for-all whether or not there might be a public for such a match
