EABA Championships

Newport, Middlesbrough, Take the Trophy

The EABA inaugural team championship was won by the Newport team of Lee Connor, Martin Goodwill, and Paul Boden. Simon Snee had played in earlier rounds.

There were 29 three-man teams, each member playing a match of 300 up with his opposite number, with the result being decided on the aggregate score.

The semi-finals saw wins for Newport over Bradford, and Widnes over Exeter.

In the Final, Newport beat the Widnes team of Trevor Gent, Graham Lloyd, and Tony Barton. Despite the distances involved in travelling, (Exeter played Ashington in Huntingdon!) the tournament was an unqualified success. EABA secretary Albert Hanson wishes to thank all host clubs for providing facilities and hospitality.
