These two professionals recently played a long match of 10,000 up. The match was played over a series of two-hour sessions during February and March at the Court Club, Peterborough. The match was won by Mike Russell 10,000 - 5,423. In one session, in which the players had only four visits each, Chapman averaged 404.
Clearly the World No.2 is still some way ahead of his young rival, but such experience will have been of immense value to Chapman who should be well-established in the world's top half-dozen in another year or so.
It is reported that each session started with a fresh break-off. It is thus probable that the averages would have been even higher if the players had concluded unfinished breaks.
