The Annual general Meeting of the W.P.B.S.A, billiards members was held at the Radion Plaza, Sheffield, on November 11th. All four members of the committee, Mark Wildman, Bob Close, Clive Everton, and Des Heald, were present. Playing members Mike Russell, Peter Gilchrist, Norman Dagley, Robby Foldvari, and David Rees; non-playing member Alan Firth; W.P.B.S.A, officials Martyn Blake and Nigel Oldfield, were also present.
Chairman mark Wildman reported that the year had been on the whole a successful one. Clive Everton announced that Sky T.V. were to show some billiards in conjunction with snooker tournaments to be held in Bournemouth and Plymouth, possibly the Finals of the Strachan UK, and the British Open, the preliminary rounds of which are scheduled for Sheffield in February.
WPBSA Secretary, Martyn Blake, thought that there might be a chance of the Main Board increasing the Billiards grant. With Wildman and Heald having completed their two-year period of election to the committee there were two places to be filled. Both put themselves forward for re-election despite earlier announcements that they would not stand again. Wildman was re-elected but Heald was not. Des was thanked for his contribution over the last two years. The WPBSA billiards committee now comprises, Mark Wildman, Bob Close, Clive Everton, and Michael Ferreira - elected in place of Des Heald. The WPBSA main Committee seconds one member to the billiards committee, in the past this has been Ray Edmonds.
