Ranking list

By awarding points on the basis of Tournament Winner -5, Runner-up - 4, Losing Semis - 3, Losing quarters - 2, and losing in last sixteen -1, it is possible to arrive at an ABC ranking order. There is no doubt at all about the two leading players, but otherwise this can only be a rather crude measure. It takes no account of plate performance and no account of the luck of the draw. Taking as qualification having played in at least half of the events, and having gained at least 5 points, the ranking list is as follows:-

1) M. Goodwill with 34 points from 8 tournaments
2) D. Causier 18/5
3) B. Harvey 14/6
4) C. Ross 12/6
5) W. Andress 8/8
6) T. Terry 7/8
7) Arthur Reeve 6/4
8), P. Bennett 6/6
9) A. Orton 6/7
10) S. Crosland 5/4
11) B. Hoole 5/6
12) R. Sutcliffe 5/6

It was a very good season but BQR is confident that 1983/84 will be even better, though it will take a great effort (by an amateur) to beat the highest break.
