Twelve players took part. The event was won by Adam
Fitzgerald who had earlier reached the final of the Under 18

New South Wales Minor Championship
There was an excellent entry of 32 players for the tournament which was played on a double elimination basis. It is not made absolutely clear as to how this format was applied but the reporter is critical;-
"I do not agree with this format. If a player plays in a State title and is defeated he should be out of the
Championship. In this event we saw a player defeated in the second round, go back in and go on to play in the final, another player defeated in the second round went on to the semi-finals."
N.S.W. Minor
The Final was played over four hours and won by Gary Hill
who defeated Bruce Ashby 1148 - 970. Hill made breaks of
55.74.52 and 40, whilst Ashby had runs of 43 and 34. The
day's only century was by Eric Worsley - 103.

The New Zealand Masters
The Tournament was played at the Pukekohe Cosmopolitan Club. There were twenty entries described as being from, "round the World. "hey may have been so but the only names familiar to the BQR are those of Joe Millen and Joe Minici both of Australia. The billiards was described as top-class and attracting large numbers of spectators. The format was the best of three games of 50 minutes. It was generally agreed that Joe Minici, sponsored by the Cabra-Vale Diggers Club, played the best billiards of the week though Joe Millen was not far behind. The two Australians contested the final Minici winning 2-0.
Top breaks were by Minici with 112, 106 and 13 breaks over 50 and Millen with 10 over 50. No other player scored more than three 50 breaks. Apart from Minici's centuries the highest break was by G. Jackson with 92. Games of such short duration do not often produce many big breaks.
