TOM AIKEN'S Billiard Parlour, 20, Hill Place, Edinburgh, and near the Empire Theatre, is the most popular room in Edinburgh and district, and is admittedly the finest and best equipped room in Scotland.
This room was opened in 1915 by H. W. Stevenson, who played a game with T. Aiken on that occasion.
It is the resort of 'Varsity men and the standard of play is very high.
Perhaps the reason of this room's great success is the personal care and attention given to the tables, and the fine selection of hand-made cues available, the tips of which are examined and trimmed daily. A brochure containing many valuable hints is issued even year.
The Tom Aiken Club (subscription, 2s. 6d. per year) includes the use of private cue and case, free use of billiard library, and personal hints from Mr. Aiken when playing in the room.
The annual handicap, organised by Mr. Aiken, is one of the most popular events of the billiard season, and has had a full entry of 128 on all occasions.
