Here and There Notes
- The amateur championship of Victoria, New South
Wales, commenced on September 5.
- The Manchester Charity Billiards Tournament will
commence at Messrs. Orme's Saloon in the Parsonage
on December 12.
- For the Liverpool amateur championship matches Mr. J.
Ashcroft has fitted up a room in his Victoria Street
premises. The present champion is Mr. T. Owen.
- "I hear that it is more than likely that for the third
year in succession we shall have a championship played
without Inman taking part in the competition."#151;Harry
Young.
- The annual billiards handicap promoted by the Stock
Exchange Billiards Association will commence during
the second week of November at Simpson's Restaurant,
Cheapside.
- The New Zealand Billiards Championship tournament
was concluded on August 12, when H. G. Siedeberg
(Dunedin) beat R. Fredatovich (Auckland) in a game of
1,500 up by 412.
- Falkiner is down to play McConachy on November 7
and following days at Burroughes Hall, Piccadilly.
During the past month the latter has met Reece in
Manchester and Newcastle.
- Writing some time ago on the weight of Smith's cue,
Inman said he preferred his own lightweight, but now
thinks that there must be something out of the ordinary
in Smith's. He calls it the "dreadnought" type of
cue, but Smith calls it his "battle axe."
- Following his victory over Lawrence in the junior
tournament, Davis was to have met Carpenter, but,
owing to an attack of lumbago, he was unable to leave
his bed. It was, however, sportingly agreed by Carpenter that the match should still be played.
- In Lincoln, at the Grosvenor Club, there are four full sized tables and two smaller ones. The smaller tables
are provided for the use of the lady members (the
Grosvenor being a mixed club), and last winter there
was a Christmas handicap for lady members only.
- The senior scratch professional tournament at Burroughes Hall, St. James's Street, Piccadilly, will be
commenced on November 28 by Newman and Inman.
- The 1922 amateur championship of English billiards
will commence at Burroughes Hall, Soho Square, and
the semi-final heats (to be followed by the championship
match) are to begin at Burroughes Hall, St. James's
Street, on February 20. Entries are now closed.
