At a dinner given in Australia to Mr. J. R. Hooper by the New South Wales Billiard Association, the toast of "Champion Sidney Fry" was proposed by the chairman (Mr. J. A. Burke) and replied to by Mr. Hooper, who described Mr. Fry as one of the best and most generous of sportsmen, whom it was an honour to meet and compete against. Mr. Fry is most hospitable, he said, to Australians, his most recent act being the entertaining of the Australian golfers, Kirkwood and East, at his home green, Mid-Surrey. He also gave Mr. Hooper a reception at the same links by giving a dinner, and engaging a pair of the best English professional golfers for an exhibition game, to show his guest the methods of the best English golfers.
