As a testimonial to Arthur Williamson, the marker and referee at the Burroughes Hall, Soho Square, many of the leading professionals on December 23 took part in a flying handicap of 100 points up. There was a splendid attendance.
The handicap was sealed, and the starts altered each round. In the first round W. H. Sparrow (rec. 26) beat E. Diggle (rec. 10) by 18; B. Elphick (rec. 33) beat A. F. Peall (rec. 26) by 66; M. Inman (scratch) beat A. Williamson (rec. 37) by 44; and W. Cook (rec. 31) beat J. Jeavons (rec. 53) by 1. In the semi-finals Sparrow (rec. 19) beat Inman (owes 13) by 83, and Elphick (rec. 18) defeated Cook (rec. 21) by 79. In the final Sparrow and Elphick both started off 13, and the former won by 41. T. Reece and C. Harverson played a game of pyramids, and R. de Kuyper gave a display of fancy strokes.
