To the Editor.
Reference is made in the June issue of The Billiard Monthly to a Leeds club which numbers among its members six players who have made a hundred break. At the Manchester Limited we can beat this record easily, for there must be nearly, if not quite, two dozen players who play here who have reached the coveted three figuresmany of them very often. Writing only from memory I can call to mind the following list of such players:Messrs. Aronsberg, Bridge, Dick, Firth, Gaggs, Hall, Hilton, Jones, Lee, Levi, Marsh, Siddall, Sheppard, Southwell, Sunderland, Thorn, Tonge, and Wolstenholme.
The breaks range up to 190, this break having been made a few months ago by Mr. J. Sunderland, who plays on level terms with most of the players in the above list.
I have only given the names of gentlemen who play here more or less regularly. I could give another long list of Mancunians who have made three-figure breaks in this room during the last ten or twelve years, but who seldom, or never, play here now. Such a list would include Messrs.
Lonsdale and Heginbottom, whose respective record breaks are, I believe, 297 and 294.
