The Amateurs' Break Competition

LIST OF WINNERS

At the conclusion of each afternoon session of the professional tournament at the Soho Square Salon, the amateurs who were present amongst the spectators had the opportunity of competing for the handsome prize of two cues in a polished wood case, which was awarded weekly during the 28 weeks over which the Tournament extended to the maker of the largest break from a set-up position. The red ball was placed on the billiard spot, the white ball on the centre spot, and the cue ball near to a top pocket on the natural angle line for the cross in-off. It will be noticed from the subjoined list of results that the winning breaks averaged 35 and it may be added that the maker of the highest recorded break of 58 (Mr. R. J. Bullett) was presented by Messrs. Burroughes & Watts, Ltd., with one of their "Billiardiners"—a handsome combined billiard and dining table:—
