Peculiar Billiard Incident

During the billiard match between Reece and Lindrum in Sydney an unusual incident occurred. Reece played for a cannon, and, in his opinion, failed. He sat down, but the marker held that he had scored, and added two to the score he called. Reece protested that he had not scored, but the marker persisted that he had. Lindrum did not interfere, as he was not in a position to judge whether a cannon was secured. After again asserting that he did not think he had scored, Reece went on, but in the confusion he played with Lindrum's ball by mistake. Lindrum did not notice that it was his ball which Reece had adopted by accident, and Reece went on scoring the few more points that carried him to his sessional number. During the interval between the afternoon and evening's play Reece was told that he had used his opponent's ball. When he resumed at night he went on with his own ball. Lindrum did not call a foul during the afternoon session, and at night could not do so, because Reece then played with his own ball.—Melbourne Argus.
