Billiard Prodigies

More juvenile billiard prodigies are ripening in Australia.

Two of them—Willie Hughes, of Ryde, and Walter Lindrum— are in their 13th year, and knock Up 50 and 60 breaks with the greatest of ease. The former youth recently won the championship of his district, and promises to be a very fine player. Young Lindrum is a left-hander, and gives greater promise than his brother did at the same age. Hughes and W. Lindrum may shortly meet for the juvenile billiard championship.

In 1871 nearly 73,000 billiard tables were taxed in France, and up to 1888 the number steadily increased to 97,000. Since then, however, there has been a decline, and last year the number was 88,000. Perhaps France is tiring of the monotony of endless cannons and ready for the pocket table.
