The semi-finals and final of the local CIU individual billiards championship was contested on 18th March at the Guisborough Quoit Club. The first semi-final saw ex-professional snooker player, Paul Reeve in fine form, making a break of 101 at his fourth visit, to end the hopes of Steve Buxton. The holder, Darren Kell, had been drawn to meet Paul Bennett in the other semi, but the anticipated close struggle did not materialise. Paul consistently failed to trouble the marker, and only a break of 70 at his final visit made the score look respectable. The final proved to be even more one-sided as Darren put in breaks of 86 and 105 unfinished to retain his title with some style.

Ged McElvaney is the Redcar League individual champion after his victory over Paul Mackell.
English Boys and Junior champion Robin Wilson (+40), aged 14, defeated English Amateur champion Paul Bennett (-80) 200-112 in the semi final of the Friendly League individual.
Requiring 160 points, Robin started with a 41 break at his first visit and completed the win with a 97 unfinished. With the chance of just a few visits to the table, Paul still managed breaks of 81 and 89! Robin will now meet Jeff McKeown (+20) who beat Darren Kell (-80) by 200-125.
