Eastern Counties

Cambridge are in a strong position to take the Division One title as they have a seven point return from their three games played, but Mid Norfolk Pot Black currently lead with 8 points, having played five games. Newmarket "A" have a five point return from their four games and Norwich "A" have an even four points from four games.

Ian Chambers heads the highest break list with an 89, from Philip Welham 87; Stan Ellis 85; and Colin Extall 83. Philip is the top scorer to date with a 618 point game, followed by Denis McGuigan, Ian Chambers and Fos Wilson with 539, 519 and 478 respectively.

In Division Two (A) Lincoln "A" hold a comfortable four point lead over Alby with both sides having played five games.

Boston are a further point behind having played six, while Norwich "B" show a lowly three point return from six games.

David Nichols, with a 110 break, tops the division list from John Carman's 109. Phil Johnson has also made an 83. The same three players head the high scorer's list, but in reverse order. Phil has 607, John 537 and David 515.

Division Two (B) sees Lincoln "B" on top with 13 points from six matches. Newmarket "B" have seven points from five, and Raunds seven points from six. Lincoln "C" have six points from five matches. David Ellis tops the highest break and score list, (73 and 542) from Steve Bean who has a tally of 66 and 445 points respectively. Matthew Sutton has the highest junior break of 66, while Mike Challon has the highest junior score of 397. Junior's Dean Bavister (353), Matthew Sutton (337) and Fraser Adams (306) also feature in the highest score list.

A recent meeting of league members determined that this season, two teams will be promoted via the play-offs, and one team (the lowest placed) will be relegated from the first division.

The presentation of trophies will take place at the Eastern Counties Championships, which will take place on Sunday 22nd February at the Newmarket Snooker Centre, All Saints Road, Newmarket, commencing 10.00am.
