DARLEY DALE INVITATION TOURNAMENT

The only ingredient missing from this years Darley Dale Invitation Tournament was the legendary Norman Dagley. This is the first time Norman has not played in the event since its inception, sixteen years ago. The ill health which kept him out of this years World Championship has unfortunately dragged on. However Norman is now on the mend and we look forward to seeing those silky skills at next years event.

The remaining three players were World Champion Mike Russell, 1994 World Champion Peter Gilchrist and English Champion Chris Shutt. These three played a round robin event in both afternoon and evening sessions.

After displaying consistent billiards, the day went to Peter Gilchrist who won both of his games in each session. Runner up was Mike Russell who took two of his four games played and yet had recorded four breaks over 200. Chris Shutt failed to win a game but showed glimpses of his talent in the few trips to the table allowed by his counterparts.

The full house were once again treated to billiards of the highest order in the event sponsored by Autohouse Motors of Chesterfield and Mr Tom Terry, who presented the Trophy and cheques to the players.
