EASTERN COUNTIES

Eastern Counties Billiards Championship

David Nichols regained his Eastern Counties title by defeating Matthew Sutton 259-218 in a close-fought final at the Newmarket Snooker & Bowl on 14th April.

In the semi-finals Nichols had defeated Phillip Welham 473-165, helped by a run of 121, while Sutton had defeated Arthur Reeve 324-113 at the same stage of the competition. Sutton included a break of 137 in his win.

In the Plate event, Jim Chambers (Haddenham) defeated Mark Mytton (Huntingdon) in the final by 325 (68, 75)-173, and in the subsidiary cup Clive Scott defeated Mick Wright 246-221.

Entries were received from seven different counties which was run by the Eastern Counties Billiards Association. Newmarket Snooker & Bowl helped to sponsor the event.
