Praprut Chaithanasakun and Udon Khaimuk took the gold medal in the billiards doubles at the South East Asian Games which were held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during September. This was their second consecutive success at this event. In the final, which was best of five 50-up games, they defeated the home team of Moh Loon Hong and Lee Thye Hong by three games to one. In the play-off for third place, Nguyen Thanh Long and Le Dac Tho of Vietnam beat Puan Teik Chong- Soh Chye Hian of Singapore 3-2.
Praprut, who plays professional billiards under the name of Rom Surin, fared less well in the Individual competition when he surprisingly went out 3-0 in the preliminary round to the little known Vietnamese player Truong Van Anh. The Gold Medal winner was Mohammed Muslim from Indonesia who defeated U Kyaw Do (Malaysia) 3-1.
Thailand´s squad returned to winning ways in the three-man team event when Praprut and Udon were joined by Tawat Sujaritturakam to take the Gold Medal, defeating the Indonesian team 2-1 in the final.
