WORLD LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP

Kelly Fisher, seeded No.3, added the World Ladies Billiards championship to her list of achievements when she defeated last year's winner Emma Bonney 290-219 in the final, played at the Jesters Snooker Club on 24th April. This was her first World Billiards win with her previous best performance being an appearance in the final against Karen Corr two years ago. Her new title carried the additional reward of £350 and Emma Bonney from Portsmouth received £200 as runner-up. The prizes were presented by Peter Gilchrist, the new WBA World Professional Champion. There were 14 entries to this year's competition, with only Pooja Galundia (India) coming from outside England.

Fisher, a 22 year-old from Pontefract, and now living in Dudley, was the World Ladies Snooker Champion for three years from 1998-2000. She competes regularly as a snooker player on the WPBSA UK Tour, having a break of 143 to her credit at this game.
