JUNIOR TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
(Total aggregate score. All games one hour duration)
Breaks SC, Lincoln - 25th February 2001
A series of regional elimination contests culminated with teams from
Lincolnshire and Cleveland meeting in the Junior County Team
Championship Final at the Breaks SC in Lincoln. With all the three
one-hour games played concurrently, the Lincolnshire team of Peter
Gamblin, Robert Hall and Neil Hall emerged victorious with a 737-647
aggregate result. The key performance was a massive 178 point win by
Lincolnshire's Robert Hall who included a 54 break in his 297-119
result over Andrew Fairly. Peter Gamblin, who was being kept very
busy with his additional involvement in the U-16 and U-19
Championships, increased this aggregate with a narrow 33 point win
over Steven Hassack. Although Jason Robinson gave Cleveland a big
292-144 win in the remaining match, it was not enough to close the gap
and Lincolnshire took the title by 90 points.

Eight teams from the Teesside Boys League entered this year's event to
find the representative team for Cleveland. The favourites, Ormesby
Institute 'A' have traditionally only required the performance of their
star player, Robin Wilson, to guarantee their success, but this year his
effort was not enough as the team crashed out to Stockton Riley's 'B' in
the semi-finals. This performance installed the Riley's team as new
favourites, but they too were defeated in the final against Redcar WMC.
Steven Hassack secured an impressive 152 point victory for the seasiders
when he defeated the Riley's best player Craig Murphy 300-170
