EASTERN COUNTIES

The Arthur Barker Junior Billiards Championship

The fourth Arthur Barker Junior Billiards Championship was held at the Maltings Q Club at Kings Lynn with a limited entry of 16 players competing to find the 2000 Champion. Four groups played a round- robin format of 30 minute games which produced the four semi-finalists to complete the contest on a knock-out basis.

Fourteen-year-old Calvin Daws came through the field to take the title, defeating Nathan Mann 171-68 in the final. Daws had things all his own way in the early part of this game, establishing an early lead of 100 points. Although Nathan Mann scored on a more equal basis after this, he was unable to close the gap, and Daws finished a comfortable winner. In the semi-finals Daws had defeated Robert Crisp (Narborough) 150- 89, and Mann had overcome the reigning champion, Gavin Lewis (Narborough) 102-98.
