Once again it was Bath´s turn to entertain the Sandford Orcas League for an evening of Billiards. Playing 1½ hour sessions on various tables in the City, the "Orcs" ran out narrow winners by five games to four. The most notable performance for Bath came from Keith Langley who won his game by nearly 200 points. For Sandford Orcas, Roy Foster´s win saw him compile the highest aggregate of the competition with 424. In so doing, he overturned last year´s defeat by Dave Lord. Both teams enjoyed an "after-match" buffet at the "Old Crown" in Weston and we look forward to next season´s first fixture which will be in October.
The long awaited World Matchplay Championship has come and gone, and what a tremendous success it was. The Radstock B&S League along with their President (Jack Karnehm) should be congratulated on their efforts and hard work in bringing a major billiards event to the West Country. On the evening prior to the commencement of matches, Jack Karnehm entertained some 30 enthusiasts to about 2½ hours of demonstrations and anecdotes. If he had continued into the early hours I don´t think anyone would have gone home.
