We are very sorry to hear of the Death of Ken Hobbs of Derby, and a letter of condolence from The English Amateur Billiards Association has been sent to Mrs. Hobbs.
The Obituary below has been contributed by Ken's Derby team mate, David Rees.
Ken passed away recently after a short illness aged 71 years.
He played billiards from a very early age until a few weeks before his death and won many trophies, the first at the age of ten.
Ken won the Derby Senior Billiards title four times between 1965 and 1993 and represented Derbyshire on many occasions.
He was a regular competitor in the Pro-Ams and used to practice on a regular basis with the late Herbert Beetham.
This was probably why he was such a fine exponent of in-off play. A most likeable fellow he will be sadly missed by his many friends.
