2018/19 1st EABA Tournament – Ten Times Table Topper Topples Teessiders

Sun 9th September 2018, North East Snooker Center – Clay Cross, S45 9AG.

The first EABA ranking event for the 2018/2019 season was business as usual with Rob Hall, the rankings leader for the last consecutive ten years presented with that trophy, along with winning this event and taking the high break prize.
On the way Hall beat Teessiders Ron Bickerdike, Mark Hatton, Simon Snee in the semi final and last years English Amateur finalist Darren Kell in the clash of the first round. Snee’s defeat and Craig Fitzpatricks semi final defeat to finalist Mark Hirst meant an all Teesside final will have to wait for another day. Hirst put up a good fight in the final, an early 91 break putting him in the driving seat but Hall hit back with a century and a 60 to Hirst’s 85 and won by around 40 points.
Kell had the consolation of winning the plate, beating Arthur Winn in the final.
Clay Cross is an excellent venue, a favourite of many, and thanks go to the management for their support.
