2018/19 Whitworth Masters – All White on the Day

Sat/Sun 15th/16th September 2018, Whitworth Institute – Darley Dale

Dave White followed an excellent semi final win over Rob Hall with victory in the final to add the Whitworth Masters trophy to the Grand Masters trophy won earlier in the year. Five times winner and holder Rob Hall was beaten by White’s solid match play in the semi-final meaning first time finalist Craig Fitzpatrick (from Stockton, Teesside) and last years beaten finalist White (Bude, Cornwall) guaranteed a new name on the trophy. The two clashed in the group stages with Fitzpatrick winning that one, White winning comfortably over the 2 hour final. Fitzpatrick played well and can be pleased with his tournament.
Hall had looked in ominous form in earlier games, with breaks of 264, 125 and 248 unfinished, Mark Graham being Fitzpatrick’s semi final victim. Results here.
Many thanks to local hero Jim McCann, Tournament director Clive Scott and referees Martin O’Reilly, Chris Ellis, Bob Slee and Peter Cooper.
