2018/19 4th ABC Tournament – Hirst is First

Mark Hirst consolidated his position at the top of the ABC rankings with a hard fought victory at Clay Cross, taking the day’s highest break of 144 for good measure. He was pushed all the way by Craig Fitzpatrick in the final, a 49 unfinished break enabling Fitzpatrick to draw dead level at the bell. In the extra 10 minutes that followed, Hirst got in first and took the game. Fitzpatrick beat Gary Norman in the semi, Hirst beating English Amateur champion Rob Hall with aid of a 79 unfinished break. John Hughes took his first plate prize, beating Jim McCann in the final and having a century break along the way.
