EABA Matchplay – Hall Warms up for English Defence

Sunday 17th March 2019, Atack Club, Nuneaton

Rob Hall beat Mark Hirst in the final EABA ranking tournament of 2018/19, the matchplay, played over a maximum of 3*100 up frames( or a maximum of 75 minutes). Hall retained this title, having a 100 unfinished break in his semi final win over Nathan Mann, Hirst winning a high quality semi over Mark Hatton, having an unfinished century break in the previous round.
Jim McCann had a flashback with a 59 break topped by an unfinished century, Ron Bickerdike having also having an unfinished century in the plate. Craig Fitzpatrick took the plate from Gary Norman, their semi final victims being Mark Graham and Mick Johnson respectively.
Six times winner Hall and Fitzpatrick go from this short format into 4 hour games in the English amateur semi finals. Many thanks to Ian and Sonia from the Atack club for their continuing support for the billiards fraternity.

ABC MatchPlay – Hall is top of the Pops Again

13th March 2016 – Atak Club, Nuneaton.

Rob Hall took the MatchPlay title again at Nuneaton, losing only one hundred up leg to semi finalist Mark Hatton who finishes in second place in the rankings to confirmed leader Hall. Jamie Wayman played well and made his first final, as did Mick White who was beaten by Mark Graham in the plate final. Chris Mitchell timed his run into the top eight in the rankings to perfection with a semi-final, holding off Gary Norman who played well until bumping into Hall. Ron Bickerdike had a notable win over Robert Marshall. Earlier rounds saw some tight finishes, with several players scraping through by as little as a single point.

Matchplay – Rob Hall is Top of the Pops

15th March 2015, Atack, Nuneaton.

Rob Hall sealed top place in the 2014/15 rankings by winning d in winning the matchplay event at Nuneaton, defeating Teessider Mark Hatton in the final, with unfinished breaks in all 3 final legs. Hall prevented an all Teesside final by taking his semi-final against the consistent Darren Kell, who in turn sealed second place in the rankings with just the English Amateur finals to play. Dave Nichols showed some form to make the semi’s and Chris Mitchell defeated Mick White in the plate final, sealing it with an unfinished run of 81.
Century breaks were hit by Rob Hall (102,100), Chris Taylor (100,103), Mark Hatton (100).
